Welcome to Next Steps Together (NeST)

We provide community-based support that promotes wellbeing, connection and resilience, through a range of activities and services for people at different stages of life.

While our work is inclusive and open to people of all ages, we place particular focus on people living with dementia, those who are neurodivergent (including autism and ADHD), and those who care for them.

We also offer bookable spaces at our Tumbly Hill venue in Kingsbridge for individuals, organisations and community groups to run their own activities, meetings or events.

How We Support You

Our work is delivered through three core strands:

Each offers a different type of support, but they are designed to work alongside one another, so people can take part in ways that suit their needs, interests and stage of life.

Dementia

Many people engage with more than one strand, and our activities often bring people together across age groups and experiences.

This joined-up approach to wellbeing, creates an inclusive environment that helps strengthen connections within and across generations.

It creates opportunities to build meaningful relationships within the wider community, where people can learn together, share life experiences and skills, and develop a better understanding of each other.

Wellbeing

NeST's wide-ranging offer is neurodiverse-aware, dementia-inclusive and rooted in the community.

Our work is shaped by the lived experience of the people we serve and continues to evolve in response to local priorities, including special educational needs, cognitive decline and social isolation in rural communities.

Our vision is to reshape wellbeing within our rural and coastal community, across all ages and stages of life, together.

Community

What Matters to Us

Next Steps Together is shaped by four core values: Educate, Engage, Enrich, Empower.

These values are reflected in our name and embedded in how we work with people, including clients, families, volunteers, staff and partners. They underpin our belief in listening to people, valuing their experiences, and involving them in shaping the support they receive.

We create opportunities for creativity, connection and shared experience, supporting a sense of identity, belonging and purpose.
We listen to people and involve them in shaping what we do, building connections across individuals, families and the wider community.
We support people to make informed choices, have a voice and stay involved in decisions that affect their lives.

We share knowledge that builds understanding and confidence, helping people learn about dementia, neurodivergence and wellbeing.

Be Part of NeST

NeST is a not-for-profit organisation sustained through a mix of grant funding, room hire, paid-for services and the generosity of those who believe in what we do. We keep our costs as low as possible, often supported through fundraising and donations, so that people can access the activities and support they need.

Our community plays a vital role in helping NeST grow and reach more people. Some people give their time or expertise as volunteers, others make a donation when they can, and some choose to leave a gift in their will.

Your support makes a difference

Every contribution, however small, helps us build a more inclusive, connected community and continue developing the support we offer, together.
