Memory Cafe
About Our Memory Cafes
Our Memory Cafés are open to anyone experiencing memory issues – with or without a formal dementia diagnosis, their family members, and caregivers can meet and share experiences in a supportive environment.
They are relaxed and informal get-togethers that offer a range of activities such as group games, quizzes, storytelling, music and singing, arts and crafts, seated exercises, plus reminiscence and seasonal themed sessions.
Memory Cafes are designed to provide a sense of normalcy, enjoyment, and community belonging; a place where both challenging and joyful experiences can be shared, friendships are formed, and support networks are built, all within a comfortable and welcoming setting.

Why Join a Memory Cafe?
Our Memory Cafes offer more than just a social outing. They provide a lifeline of support, information, and enjoyment to those navigating life with dementia, by providing:
- A stigma-free environment for socialization and relaxation.
- Access to information and resources for managing dementia.
- Emotional support from peers and professionals.
- Enjoyable and therapeutic activities tailored to individual needs.

How Memory Cafes Represent Our Core Values in Action
- Empower: Creative Workshops - From painting to pottery and music sessions, our workshops are designed to boost confidence, stimulate cognitive functions, and encourage self-expression in a supportive atmosphere.
- Engage: Conversation and Connection - Our storytelling circles and discussion groups provide a platform for everyone to share their stories, fostering understanding and camaraderie among members.
- Educate: Dementia Awareness - Through workshops and talks, we offer valuable insights into living with dementia, practical care strategies, and the latest research, helping to demystify the condition.
- Enrich: Community Integration - We collaborate with local schools, businesses, and community groups to create a more dementia-friendly society. From intergenerational projects to awareness campaigns, these initiatives aim to integrate those living with dementia into the wider community.
Get Involved
We warmly invite you to join us at our Tumbly Hill Memory Café, in Kingsbridge, where most of our services will be based, or at one of our outreach Memory Cafes in Thurlestone, Chillington and East Allington.
All Memory Café activities will be commencing within the next few months, and we are opening our referral and members list now to ensure that these services are up and running as soon as possible.
Whether you're directly affected by dementia, caring for someone who is, would like to volunteer, or simply wish to support our project, your presence can make a significant difference.
