A Taste of Volunteering
A Taste of Volunteering at Tumbly Hill
Wine, nibbles, and a chance to explore new opportunities
Are you curious about volunteering for NeST at our Tumbly Hill Wellbeing Hub? Or pehaps you are already part of our team and would like to come and socialise with us?
Join us for A Taste of Volunteering at Tumbly – a relaxed evening with wine, non-alcoholic options, and nibbles, where you can meet the team, chat with current volunteers, and explore the many ways you can get involved.
At NeST we support people living with dementia, neurodivergent young people and adults, carers, and the wider community. Our volunteers play a vital role in making this possible, and we’d love you to be part of it.
What to expect
- A warm welcome, refreshments, and time to meet others.
- A short presentation about NeST, our venue at Tumbly Hill and our values: Educate, Engage, Enrich, Empower.
- An introduction to the different volunteer roles available.
- Time to chat informally with staff and volunteers about what it’s really like to get involved.
- The chance to start or complete your application, and support with DBS checks if you’re ready to take the next step.
- Information about induction, training, and ongoing support for every role.
Volunteer roles at NeST
Our roles are varied, so there’s something for every interest and skill. You could:
- Support people living with dementia at our Meeting Centre and activity groups.
- Take part in intergenerational projects that bring young people and older adults together.
- Help with reception, refreshments, or welcoming visitors.
- Facilitate or support peer groups.
- Volunteer as part of a counselling placement.
- Share your skills through social media, creative projects, or admin support.
Our commitment to volunteers
At NeST, our four values ~ Educate, Engage, Enrich, Empower ~ apply just as much to our volunteers as they do to the people we support. We want volunteering to be a positive and rewarding experience, where you feel valued, included, and supported. Volunteer wellbeing is central to our ethos, and we provide training, supervision, and opportunities to learn and grow as part of your journey with us.
Volunteering at NeST is truly intergenerational. We welcome people of all ages – from young people completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award or taking part in sixth form enrichment programmes, to adults seeking to contribute their time, skills, or lived experience.
We even offer the Care Certificate as part of our training platform, which can lead to a recognised national qualification and open the door to employment opportunities. Looking ahead, we are also working towards introducing an apprenticeship programme in Adult Health and Social Care, giving volunteers a clear pathway into the sector if they wish to take that step.
Why volunteer with NeST?
Volunteering at NeST isn’t only about giving your time – it’s about connection, purpose, and community. Our volunteers tell us they gain confidence, learn new skills, and feel part of something meaningful.
Together we Educate, Engage, Enrich, and Empower each other.
Free to attend, all welcome.
