About Next Steps Together
Who We Are
Next Steps Together (NeST) is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company which operates the Tumbly Hill Health & Wellbeing Hub in Kingsbridge, South Devon.
We support people through life’s changes - including those living with memory loss, dementia, neurodivergence, grief and other emotional or cognitive challenges.
Our work blends professional insight with lived experience. We create safe, inclusive spaces where people can access timely support that is thoughtful, grounded and person-centred.
How We're Run
NeST is a Community Interest Company limited by guarantee, with an asset lock in place to ensure any surplus is reinvested into our charitable work.
We are governed by a Board of Directors who bring expertise in health, education, voluntary sector leadership, finance, safeguarding and lived experience. Strategic decisions are informed by ongoing community feedback and co-production.
We are committed to transparency, integrity and good governance. Our policies are reviewed regularly and made available on request.
NeST manages and maintains the Tumbly Hill building, using income from room hire to keep our services affordable and the community space accessible.
Our Journey
Conversations Around Loss
NeST began as a grassroots initiative, hosting Death Cafés and Grief Cafés across Kingsbridge and the South Hams. These early sessions created space for open, supportive conversations about dying and grieving — topics often avoided in everyday life.
Becoming a CIC
We formally registered as a Community Interest Company in 2020, expanding our work to include counselling, mindfulness, ecotherapy, and grief support. We also began delivering training in end-of-life care, carer wellbeing and advance care planning.
A New Focus on Dementia and Carers

A New Chapter at Tumbly Hill
With support from the National Lottery Community Fund, we officially took on responsibility for the building in April 2025. The site is now home to a growing range of health and wellbeing services, including our flagship Meeting Centre - an internationally recognised, evidence-based model that helps people with dementia and their families adjust to change together.
